Evaluation 4

Question 4.How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

EVALUATION: I mainly used my home editing software ‘Uleadstudio’ because it was more accessible and I created videos by recording them on my own Samsung DV camera, plugging a scart lead into the camera and recording them onto a DVD recorder and uploading onto the editing program.
He I made use of the sending email information on the you tube account because I asked for audience feedback and instantly got it. Then used programmes on the Imac’s like grab, to printscreen this evidence into my blog.
Finally the access to DV camera’s in my college was the most benefical part of the whole experience because I could automatically hire a camera, shoot some response of either myself of audience member and have instant feed back.

CONSTRUCTION: Here I used programmes like final cut pro, which enabled me to edit my films across a timeline like most editing programmes that I’ve used. But I find it twice technologically advanced as my home editing system ‘Uleadstudio’ that I’m used to working on. I find ‘Final Cut Express’ better coz you can drag all the film anywhere you want with out loose pixel resolution.

Another interesting program is ‘Gargeband’ in which it teachers you how the keep rhythm with the film and how there is a visual rhythmic language in film that communicates with audiences.
The most new program I used was adobe Photoshop because I had never used the program beforehand, I went through tutorials on you tube and gained knowledge and accessed it as I wanted. The thing I learned most about this program and how magazines and posters are made is the layering used to cluster images and make it look appealing to represent the whole film or magazine through using connotation language.

PLANNING and REARCH
During the research stage I used a range of websites mainly ones like imdb to gain film knowledge like who was the cast and crew and audience response in the critical section. Another useful website was wikipedia that ranged from everything you need to know about the subject, but I had to be careful because for of the source we untrue.
Youtube, had one of the biggest sources of information to be because it was more visual and oral so I could watch cast and crew interviews and gain insight into the world of filmmaking.

Blogspot was probably the best was of making coursework because you can work from it almost everywhere if you have the opertunity to have internet access. You could include almost anything, video reinforce your points and images from the internet to communicate with your ideas.

Through out my textual analysis I used the website called prezi to create a interesting study and deconstruction of trailers, magazines and posters of the film ‘Trainspotting’. This allowed me to be freely creative and a more media based pallet of demonstrating my points.

THE FILM: To actually film my trailer and short film I used my dads old 8mm video camera because I wanted the bright contrasts and bold colours for polysemic reasons. My biggest criticism was how there was no LCD screen which made it difficult to shoot at certain angels and how the hand strap was very sensitive toward the audio which detected clicking sounds at times but this was erased thanks to the magic of editing. But over all I enjoyed shooting of this camera because it made film more like gorilla style filmmaking.
